Membership Levels
UNT Health Alumni & Retirees, $0
UNT Health alumni and retirees can apply for a guest membership free of charge. The membership will need to be renewed on an annual basis. A valid driver's license, or other state- or government-issued ID is required.
TexShare, $0
For guests who present a valid TexShare card from a participating Texas public or university library, membership with Lewis Library is free of charge. Please bring your state- or government-issued ID, along with your TexShare card, if you are currently affiliated with a participating Texas Institution.
About TexShare
TexShare is a program of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in partnership with academic and public libraries in Texas. A TexShare card can be used at participating libraries to check out materials for research and study needs.
Individual Membership, $25 Annually
If you are not a UNT Health alumni or retiree, or do not have a valid TexShare card, you may apply for an individual guest membership. For the general public, an individual membership will cost $25, and may be renewed annually.
Guest Access
Parking
Lewis Library is accessible via public transit, with a Trinity Metro bus stop (Route 2) located near the corner of Camp Bowie & Montgomery Streets. Campus parking is administered through the UNT Health Parking Office.
Building Access
When visiting the library, please wear your UNT Health badge, which also serves as your library card. It is needed to enter the building, checkout materials at the Self-Service Checkout area, and serves as a form of identification while on campus. Lewis Library offers a variety of collaborative and quiet study spaces for guest members.
Technology
Library guests should bring their own electronic device (laptop, tablet) if a computer will be needed during their visit. The library does offer a number of charging cables and related accessories in the Self-Checkout Area.
Internet Access
UNT Health offers a Guest Wifi network for guests to use for accessing the library's electronic resources. Guests also have the option to check out a variety of cables (ethernet, for e.g.) for enhanced connectivity.
Borrowing Privileges
Guests are allowed to borrow up to 10 items from the Self-Service Checkout area. For a complete list of circulating items, loan periods, and overdue fees, visit Borrowing.

Please bring a valid driver's license, or other state- or government-issued ID. Also, bring your credit card to pay the membership fee (if applicable), or a valid TexShare card (if applicable). If your current driver's license, or state- or government-issued ID does not show your current address, please also bring a utility bill to verify your address.
In the event you misplace your UNT Health badge, a new one can be requested for a $25 replacement fee. Contact AskALibrarian@unthealth.edu or call 817-735-2465 to request a new guest membership card.
Guest access to the library building and its resources is restricted to the badge holder only. Should other members of a group or family desire access for study or research, a separate application for guest membership should be completed. Guest members must be 18 years of age or older.
If you receive an error message that states “The Barcode Number or User ID was not found in the library management system as entered”, please contact a library staff member for assistance.
For badge issues when attempting to enter the library building, contact the UNT Health Campus Police Department to report the problem. The non-emergency number for Campus Police is 817-735-2210.
Unfortunately, Lewis Library does not offer guest printing services at this time. Lewis Library staff would be happy to assist in suggesting the nearest off-campus options for printing.
No. Access to UNT Health Archives must be arranged by appointment. To access collection materials contact libraryarchives@unthealth.edu to schedule an appointment.
Lewis Library rooms for guest members are available on a first come, first served basis, and are limited to individual study rooms. Reservable group rooms are not available for guest members.
