Lewis Library Student Advisory Board
The Lewis Library Student Advisory Board (LLSAB) provides students an opportunity to engage and share their experiences related to Lewis Library. Student feedback and perspective is vital to advancing the services provided and the LLSAB will provide recommendations on space, resources, and the needs of our students. Student advisors will work with collaboratively with library staff to ensure a positive experience for all students using Lewis Library.
Membership
Applications for student advisors are open to all UNT Health Science Center students. Representation from each college is preferred. Members will be selected through on open application process and will serve a one-year term with the possibility of applying for one additional consecutive term. In addition to student-initiated applications, faculty advisors are invited to nominate students to represent their respective colleges.
The Associate Director of Education, Research, & Engagement, along with library leadership, will review applications and interview applicants as needed. Up to 14 student advisors will be selected from the applicant pool, with no more than 2 students from each of the following programs: CBTS, Nursing, PA, PT, Pharmacy, Public Health, and TCOM.
Applications will open April 1, 2026 and close April 30, 2026 each year. The first quarterly meeting will take place the beginning of June, with the remaining meetings in September, January, and March. Our inaugural advisory board members will serve through January 2028.
Charge
- Advise library leadership on student needs and priorities, and collaborate with staff to promote programs that enhance engagement and academic success.
- Collect and share student feedback on library services and promote awareness of library offerings through outreach, events, and communication channels.
- Support library improvement efforts by providing input on proposed changes and participating in assessments such as surveys and focus groups.
- Promote equitable access to library resources and services, ensuring students from all academic programs are represented and needs are met.
Student Advisor Requirements
- Currently enrolled student at UNT Health
- Commitment to serve a full one-year term.
- Have an interest in sharing student perspective and representing peers to guide library improvement.
- Commitment to attend 3 of the 4 quarterly meetings.
- Must be in good academic standing and abide by the Student Code of Conduct.
Meetings
The LLSAB will meet 4 times per year or once per quarter. Meetings will be in person with a virtual option to accommodate students on rotations. Student Advisors should bring questions, concerns, and student requests to the meetings for discussion or inclusion in future meetings. Meeting attendees are required to be respectful of fellow LLSAB members and suggestions or information brought to the group.
